A YOUNG woman has been arrested over the death of a Renfrew man.

Paul Mathieson, 37, was found with serious head and neck injuries in Wilson Street, just after 1am on Sunday, January 14.

He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow but died in the early hours of Saturday, January 20.

Police Scotland confirmed today that a 22-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the death.

It is understood she was released pending further inquiries.

It comes after we revealed that a 26-year-old man was also been arrested in connection with the death.

He was released pending further inquiries.

Inquiries are ongoing and police would appeal to anyone who has any information that may assist their investigation to contact the Major Investigations Team, based at Paisley Police Station via 101.
