A SHOCKED couple got a startling wake-up call after a car smashed through the railings of their flat this morning.

The driver of a black Mercedes drove off the road into a fence surrounding properties on Lynedoch Place in Woodlands, abandoned the car and ran off.

The incident happened at around 8am this morning.

"Not exactly what you want at 8am on a Sunday morning, thought the building was falling down.

"Driver has locked the car and ran off too."

The driver of the vehicle is believed to have locked the car before running up the street.
