A DEVELOPER has pledged to create 42 jobs if Glasgow City Council approves plans to turn a former church into a petrol station with a drive thru restaurant in Glasgow’s Southside.

The EG Group want to deliver the development on the site of the former St Louise Church on Nitshill Road, close to junction three of the M77.

The plans would create around 42 new jobs in a range of full and part-time roles.

The plans, which were originally submitted in July, last year, are the result of ongoing, detailed discussions with the local authority.

EG Group made several significant changes to the scheme including adjusting the layout to incorporate new access points onto Nitshill Road. Other amendments include an additional electric charging point and the removal of the proposed car wash.

Tom Jeremiah, Planning Director at EG Group, said: “We have worked closely with Glasgow City Council to ensure that we can deliver a development that creates new employment opportunities for local people. As a brownfield site adjacent to a major road and motorway junction it is an obvious choice for development.”

The site is the former St Louise Church which has now been demolished. If permission is granted by Glasgow City Council the developer says work will begin as soon as possible.
