DISSECTING testicles, getting a closer look at STIs, mating games and testing the strength of condoms are not the typical activities associated with Glasgow’ Science Centre (GSC) - but that’s exactly what’s on offer at its adult-only night.

GSC is promising a Friday night out with a difference as it delves into the subject that makes many blush, but who really want to know more about the science of attraction.

Guests will play with the exhibits without the kids, enjoy a beer or cocktail and take part in plenty of other activities, including:

  • Emer Maguire: Sexy Science Show - Kissing. Flirting. Love. These behaviours form the foundation of human existence. But what separates the Romeos from the Tinder turn-offs? It’s all down to science; a captivating cocktail of chemistry, genetics, biology and evolution. Join Emer Maguire, stand-up scientist and BBC radio presenter, as she guides us through the science of love
  • Dissecticles: A Conversation through Time - Discover history that’s more than skin deep. Join the team as they dissect lamb testicles to discover what they now know about anatomy, sex and reproduction – and things that haven’t gone quite right along the way
  • Parade with Pride - Share your ideas on a float for the Pride Parade, which takes place in July. The team will be on hand to answer questions attendees might have
  • A One Night Stand with Sandyford - A ‘behind-the-screens’ look at the work of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde’s sexual health service. Discover how sexually transmitted infections look under a microscope, test the strength of condoms and see how films help discussion about taboo activities.
  • Wonders of the Night Sky - Immerse yourself in the romance of the cosmos with a live, presenter-led show in the fulldome digital planetarium
  • You’re Electric - Watch sparks fly and discover why opposites attract in this hands-on investigation of static electricity
  • The Mating Game - The race is on to attract a mate. Get creative, be bold and make yourself irresistible
  • Animal Attractions - Learn about the incredibly weird mating behaviours of the animal kingdom with Laura Richmond from the University of Glasgow.
  • The Scent of Attraction - Smell plays a subtle, but underestimated, role in influencing who we find attractive. Join experts from the University of Stirling to discover how we can assess genetic compatibility, current fertility and even personality from someone else’s smell.
  • Back to Your Future - The environment you experienced before you were born can influence your behaviour and health. Join experts from the University of Glasgow to look for clues which may reveal the sex hormones you were exposed to before you were born - and even predict which side of the bed you sleep on.
  • The Electrifying World of Magnetism - Explore the amazing properties of magnets in an interactive display with experts from the University of Glasgow

Activities take place in the GSC Science Mall, a treasure trove full of almost 400 exhibits to get hands-on with. Attendees can also have a boogie in the silent disco, get their face painted, enjoy performances from SambaYaBamba and grab something to eat and drink from the fully-licensed bar.
