IT could be a white Easter for Glasgow next week as weather forecasters warn of another cold snap

Spring may have sprung but betting company Ladbrokes also said its traders believe it’s going to be a white Easter as odds are cut from 10/1 into 3/1 in just three days. Odds for Glasgow are at 2/1.

Good Friday could be the coldest day with temperatures dipping as far as -10C in the north of the UK and -5C in the south.

Glasgow and its surrounding areas will be preparing for yet another battle through the white stuff on Wednesday with the first snowfall likely to be in the Highlands on Tuesday, according to independent weather forecaster Netweather.

The news comes just weeks after the whole of Scotland was brought to a standstill with some of the worst snowstorms in around a decade.

Ladbrokes said the drop in odds represents the most substantial fall in weather betting markets so far in 2018.

With the mercury set to follow suit with a significant drop next week, another mini “Beast from the East” could be about to hit, bosses said.

Odds of Scotland waking up to snow on Easter Sunday are now at record lows.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Despite the extreme weather conditions we’ve already faced this year, we hadn’t seen anything like the drastic changing of odds over such a short space of time as we’ve seen for a white Easter.”
