The club manager of Victoria's Nightclub has said she is 'devastated' after the Sauchiehall Street fire.

Victoria Knight made the comment on her social media as firefighters continued to battle the blaze which started after 8am on Thursday.

Although the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would not comment on where the blaze started, firefighters worked to extinguish the flames across several units.

One fan of the nightclub said in response: "Gutted for you mate, you have built that place up and it was getting good numbers threw the doors again. Keep the head up."

Comedian Gary Faulds added: "Gutted for you all mate, you gave me my first solo show and I will never forget the opportunities that created being able to fill such a big room and it’s because you and all the staff backed me to the walls."

Another added: "Totally gutted to hear and see this, best wee job ever when I worked in Victoria’s nightclub."

Firefighters remain at the scene and continue to hose water through a jet onto the roof of the nightclub.

We told yesterday how assistant Chief Officer Lewis Ramsay, of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, said the fire was one of the biggest fires he had ever attended.
