A STREET food market has applied to set up a permanent home in Finnieston.

The Dockyard Social want Glasgow City Council to grant them planning permission to take over an industrial unit on Haugh Road.

They are applying for a change of use so that they can set up a permanent base in the city's West End.

In a planning statement Section 33, who are behind the plans, described the vision for their eatery.

The statement said: "The Dockyard Social Kitchen - a unique, vibrant indoor street food market, showcasing big flavours and exciting ingredients with incredible worldwide cuisines from Lebanese to Korean.

"Food and drink offers which are constantly changing and evolving so they are always on trend and relevant, to excite and stimulate the tastes of the customer and maintain our universal appeal."

The plans also state that a training academy will be created which will inspire and nurture individuals to become involved in the hospitality industry. Section 33 want to offer this opportunity to disadvantaged unemployed young people as well as those who can afford a course.

Last year, Section 33 made their pop up debut at the venue, which is near SWG3.

They offered 11 food vendors serving international comfort food, beer and cocktails.

A decision on the plans is expected in May.
