SCOTTISH Indie rockers Primal Scream have praised Celtic fans over their constant show of solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The Glasgow band fronted by singer Bobby Gillespie, who supports Celtic, took to social media to make a statement about the the club's fans' reaction to the events in Palestine.

The Green Brigade flew the flags at Celtic's 3-0 win against Ross County on Sunday.

The statement read: "There were 16 Palestinian flags flying at Celtic Park yesterday, one for every Palestinian shot down and murdered by the Israeli army.

"So proud of my team's supporters for their constant show of solidarity with the Palestinian people."

The moment also attracted comment on social media yesterday.

Last week, Palestinian officials said at least 16 people have been killed by Israeli forces and hundreds more wounded during protests at the Gaza-Israeli border.

Thousands had marched to the border at the start of a six-week protest, dubbed the Great March of Return.

The Israeli military said soldiers had opened fire after rioting.

Primal Scream are one of the city's biggest bands and are best known for hits Country Girl and Rocks. 

Their comment on the Celtic support's reaction to the killings has went viral on social media and attracted hundreds of comments.
