A MAN was assaulted by two strangers outside a newsagents during an early morning attack in Paisley.

The 46-year-old was on Netherhill Road, near to Byres Crescent around 7.50am on Saturday April 14 when he was approached by a man and woman.

The couple then kicked and punched the victim multiple times.

He was then taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The man is described as being in his mid-20s, 5ft 10 of slim build, with short, dark brown hair.

He was wearing a grey and black tracksuit with the word BOSS in large writing across the front.

The woman is described as being in her early 20s, 5ft 6 of slim build, with long, dark brown hair and was wearing a pink zip up top and black leggings.

Detective Constable Jennifer Piggott, Paisley Police Office, said: “This was a violent attack which has left a man in hospital. Officers have been carrying out door to door enquiries and checking CCTV to trace those responsible.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time who may have seen something that could help us in our enquiries.

“It is quite a residential area near a local newsagents and bakery and therefore people would have been getting up and ready for the day nearby. Do you remember hearing or seeing any disturbance?

“We would urge anyone with information to come forward and contact us.
