1. The Shed
Oh come on, as if it was going to be anywhere else. Going out + South Side = The Shed. If you're under 45 and you've never been, where have you been?
I've had my ups and downs in The Shed, I'll be honest. An up was the time we went out for Halloween and my friend Denise dressed up as the wrecking ball from Miley Cyrus's Wrecking Ball.
A down was the time I ended up in a bizarre conversation with a creep who told me I should be ashamed of being at the dancing when I should be at home with my children (even though I don't have any).
But if you want to dance and sweat to pop songs among familiar faces, go to The Shed.

2. The Glad Cafe
Does the best breakfast on the South Side by a country mile so you can bookend your day there or go out at night and head back round in the morning for some recovery food.
Check the website for what's on in the evenings - the Shawlands venue holds film screenings, gigs, open mic nights... anything you can think of.

3. The Bungo
Does the best Aviator in the city. Other cocktails are also available. The venue hosts themed food nights or use it as a springboard to the rest of your night.
Not cheap but worth it.

4. The Rum Shack
Very good Caribbean food and a choice of more than 100 rums.
Its dancehall holds 250 people and the Rum Shack puts on comedy gigs, theatre performances and artisan markets.

6. The Clockwork Beer Company
It has its own microbrewery and is a great place to start a long night out. Tucked away in Mount Florida, it also has a beer garden, if you get lucky with the weather.

7. Marchtown
The venue is fairly new to the South Side but has interesting events on throughout the year.
A specialist wine and beer shop, it also has a cafe and events space. Find it on Pollokshaws Road.
