MARYHILL streets have been closed this morning as police continue to investigate a  suspected shooting.

A 29-year-old man is understood to have been rushed to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Police were called to Bilsland Drive around 10.30pm on Monday night.

Early reports have suggested that the man may have been shot in the attack.

One eyewitness reported seeing a helicopter circling the area shortly after 10.30pm and hearing a number of arguments.

Another living on nearby Sandfield Street said she heard a loud bang and a number of sirens around 10pm.

A number of vehicles, including an Audi, were contained within the cordon although it is not know if they are linked to the attack.

Maryhill Road at the junction with Queen Margaret Drive and Bilsland Drive has been closed by police and diversions have been put in place.

Queen Margaret Drive is closed at Hotspur Street with only local access available.

Drivers have been warned to expect delays while businesses in the area have been closed.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of an injury in the Possilpark area of Glasgow on Monday night at around 10.30pm.

"Police found a seriously injured man on Bilsand Drive. He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

"Inquiries are ongoing."
