A YOUNG Kirkintilloch mum who was found by her 11-year-old daughter in a pool of blood after being stabbed to death may have tried to call the police minutes before she died.

Police officers were called to the scene at Alexander Place in the town’s Waterside area at around 3.40pm on Wednesday.

The body of Jennifer Morgan, 33, was found in the back garden of the East Dunbartonshire property.

Two men have since been arrested.

Jennifer, who is originally from Maryhill, had also lived in Coatbridge previously. It is understood she moved into the property in Kirkintilloch around three weeks ago.

The victim’s sister Laura Evans has now revealed that Jennifer phoned police shortly before being found dead.

She said: ”I got a phone call from my mum saying the police had been in touch. They said they were following up a lead that Jennifer had tried to phone them at three o’clock.

“I went right to the Waterside area but I couldn’t find the house because she’s not long in and I’ve only been there once.

“I couldn’t get Jennifer or my niece. They weren’t answering their phones. At this point, I didn’t think anything bad.”

“Then, I got a call from my niece’s dad’s girlfriend. She was crying down the phone. She said that Jennifer had been killed and at that point, I just lost it,” she added, reports the Daily Record.

The Evening Times was first to report that the loving mum was discovered by her distraught daughter.

Neighbours spotted the youngster sitting on a wall alone crying after the grim discovery.

Michael Dunn, 58, who has lived in the area for 30 years, said: “I came back to my house after taking my wife to a doctor appointment, I spotted the girl and I thought, ‘What is wrong with her?’

“My daughter went over and asked her if she was okay. She said: ‘My mum’s passed away’.”

He added: “She’s walked in and seen the blood. Then she has obviously went round and saw her mum, and ran out.

“We took the wee girl in until her dad arrived to take her home. For an 11-year-old lassie to see her mother like, that is just horrible.”
