A DRUNK pedestrian was left injured after being involved in a hit-and-run incident in Ayr.

At around 10pm on Saturday, police received a report of a man who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol on Castlehill Road.

The man fell onto the bonnet of a black Ford Fiesta which had come to a stop in front of him.

The car then moved forward slightly and the man fell off the bonnet, striking his head on the road.

The car then left the scene.

Emergency services attended and the 21-year-old man was taken to Ayr Hospital for treatment before being released a short time later.

Police Scotland is now appealing for witnesses.

Sergeant Andy Johnston, from the Divisional Road Policing Unit, based at Irvine, said: “I would appeal directly to the driver of the car involved, who may be totally unaware that the man had been injured, to contact police to help us establish the full circumstances surrounding what happened.

“I would also appeal to any other people who observed the man on the road prior to the incident, or indeed witnessed the incident itself, to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Irvine via 101, quoting incident number 4867 of Saturday, April 21 2018.
