CASINO and bingo staff in and around Glasgow are set to don their kilts and walk 23 miles at this year’s Kiltwalk.

In preparation for the big day, the teams ditched their cars and walked to and from work every day - even as Scotland was battered by the ‘Beast from the East’ storms last month.

Grosvenor Merchant City and Mecca Bingo Wishaw will be walking The Mighty Stride - the ultimate Kiltwalk experience - starting at Glasgow Green and finishing at Moss O Balloch Park on Sunday.

Staff members have also been following healthy eating tips and have been building up their fitness levels in the gym.

Debbie Johnston, General manager at Grosvenor Merchant City, who will be taking part in the Kiltwalk for the second year in a row, said: “The team at are all ready and raring to go for Sunday’s big walk. We can’t wait to get into our kilts and do our bit for charity.

“It would be great to meet our team target of £1,000 as the Carers Trust is such an amazing cause and one we have supported for four years now. In 2018, we are aiming to raise £3,200 for the charity so we hope the Kiltwalk can help us get closer to our goal.”

Belinda Holmes, General manager at Mecca Bingo Wishaw, added: “There are no words to describe the generosity of the team.

“Conquering the Kiltwalk is no easy feat and the money that is being raised will be going towards a very worthy cause. The staff members really are an inspiration.

“We can’t thank our kind-hearted customers enough for helping sponsor the team. They are the ones who are helping us raise as much money as possible for Carers Trust.”

Both teams have taken part in a number of events for The Carers Trust, a charity dedicated to helping both adult and young carers across the country.
