FAMILY and friends of Keir White are set to say their final goodbyes to the Kilmarnock man today after he was found dead in a field earlier this month.

The 24-year-old’s body was discovered near Greenhill Terrace, Knockentiber, on the afternoon of April 2.

A major search operation had been launched to find him on March 30. His death was not treated as suspicious.

Hundreds are expected to gather at Kilmarnock Independent Funeral Parlour on Church Street at 2.30pm, with the service then moving on to Holmsford Bridge Crematorium in Dreghorn, Irvine, for 3.30pm.

All of Keir’s friends have been invited.

As previously reported by the Evening Times, girlfriend Amy Collins led tributes to her “handsome boy” in a heartbreaking message on social media hours after Keir was found.

She said: “Rest in peace, my handsome boy. Thank you for making the time I spent with you so special. You never know what’s hiding behind a big, gorgeous smile.

“Be kind to your loved ones. You never know when it’s the last time you’ll see them.

“I love you forever. My heart’s all yours.”

Countless other tributes had been posted on social media on the day, many from local football clubs.

A fundraising page in honour of Keir also smashed its £3,000 target within hours.

Pal Lee Ferguson set it up to “help raise money for charity to support people just like Keir, to get the support they need and deserve.”

Overall, in just 20 days, a total of £4,064 was raised.

Many tributes were posted onto the GoFundMe page.

Grant Orbin said: “RIP Keir White, mate. Thoughts are with your family. Pal, I will still have good memories growing up with you. So gutted, auld bhoy. Gone but not forgotten.”

Michael Duncan added: “It’s been a while, but it’s gutting to know it won’t be again. I hope you have found peace of mind now. You were always one of the good ones.”
