A MAN threatened to murder his neighbours.

James McNicol, 36, could offer no explanation as to why he made the threat – other than he was drunk.

Fiscal depute Marie McCue told Glasgow Sheriff Court that it was around 5.30am when the victims were wakened by the accused making a racket outside.

McNicol shouted up at their window, branding the husband a “fat p****” and “fat b******”, before menacing: “I’ll murder you and your wife.”

The couple called the police later.

In defence, McNicol could not explain why he shouted, swore and uttered threats of violence – but was described as “very drunk”. His neighbours have since moved away from the area, but the reason was not said to be linked to the accused.

The incident happened on February 17 this year.

Sheriff Lindsay Wood reprimanded McNicol: “You have no right doing that at 5.30 in the morning; shouting at people making threats.”

McNicol was sentenced to a Restriction of Liberty Order in which he will have to remain at home within Ballantay Road between the hours of 9.30pm and 6am for the next three months.
