Social media has been sent into meltdown over claims that The Shed nightclub is on fire.

A photo of what looked like smoke pouring from the nightclub in Shawlands prompted panic from shocked customers.

Rumours were quickly proven to be false after the Scottish Fire and Rescue service confirmed the incident was a false alarm and they had in face attended a blocked chimney at a different property.

Megan Kane wrote: "Genuinely hope The Shed doesn’t ever actual close cos am no even kiddin ma heart actual stopped for a minute there."

Hayley Hunt said: "Asif the shed is on fire. No more gbx Sundays".

Staff at the club managed to make light of the situation, urging people to "join us this Friday for a smoking hot playlist."

The Shed has been open for 20 years and has become the most popular nightclub in the south side.
