TRAGIC Rangers tot Koa Brock was laid to rest on World Meningitis Day, his heartbroken family have revealed.

The football community was in mourning after the eight-month-old, from Dumfries, lost his battle with Meningococcal meningitis earlier this month.

His funeral was held in Dumfries on Tuesday as his heartbroken dad Barry, 38, vowed to “make him proud”.

A post on the Koa Brock Facebook page added: “Well today my mummy, daddy, my family and friends had to say goodbye to me and it’s world meningitis day.

“Help raise lots of money for meningitis and raise awareness to try and stop this happening to other families.”

Little Koa was on holiday at Haggerston Castle in Northumberland with Barry, mum Haley Hamilton, 28, sister Leona, six, and other relatives, when he took ill. At first his parents didn’t think anything was seriously wrong until later when they noticed a change in his breathing.

They called an ambulance and Koa was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary then transferred to Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children.

At the stricken tot’s bedside, heartbroken Barry said: "The last thing I’ll tell him is that his daddy will always love him. He”s my world and his mummy’s best wee boy.”
