The hockey boss took to Twitter to tell his followers: “I’m guessing by the mistaken identity twitter messages coming my way, but intended for my ‘twitter doppelgänger’ Andy Halliday, that Glasgow Rangers didn’t fare well in the Old Firm Derby today.”

Within hours, his message had around 3,000 reactions with Old Firm fans warning him to brace himself for more reaction.

“Prepare for 5000 Celtic followers,” joked one, as another added, “Unless you change your name then it will continue for the next few decades.”

“Watch the match mate. You’ll hear tens of thousands of Celtic fans sing your name,” another said.

Rangers’ Halliday was mercilessly trolled by Celtic fans as his team entered Parkhead prior to the match starting on Sunday.

Hoops supporters mockingly CHEERED him as he left his team’s coach.

It came just weeks after Gers boss Graeme Murty admitted to having regrets putting Halliday through his Hampden humiliation when he was hooked four minutes before half-time during April 15’s 4-0 drubbing by Celtic in the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final.

He had reacted with fury as he took his place on the bench.

The Light Blues had shown one change on Sunday, though, with Halliday asked to play at left-back due to Declan John’s broken hand.
