I’ve heard one or two things but I don’t think it was disrespectful for Celtic to miss the PFA awards dinner in order to jet off to Tenerife but I think it's a load of nonsense.

At this minute in time they have three league games left and their sights are firmly trained on an historic double treble. Right now those preparations are more important to them than any individual awards.

There will be plenty time to enjoy all of that after your career. At this time I think there is a chance to go out and do something that no-one else has achieved in the game and that will mean more to the players than anything else.

I sometimes feel that people can make something out of nothing and that’s what this feels a little like. They have just won the league with a magnificent display against their biggest rivals and now everything will be focussed on Motherwell and the Scottish Cup Final.

I think they are well within their rights to get the team together, have a day or two off in the sun to enjoy what they have just achieved and then get the sleeves rolled up and get ready to work again.

You can’t take anything away from them and what they have achieved. The display on Sunday was breathtaking at times such was the manner in which they had Rangers on the ropes.
