The tweet came minutes after Darren Fletcher extended his best wishes to 37-year-old Gerrard.
The leading football commentator took to Twitter to describe how the deal is a “massive opportunity” for both Gerrard and the Light Blues.
Fletcher wrote: “Best of luck to Stevie G at Rangers. He’s excited, determined & totally focussed on being a success at Ibrox. Massive opportunity for both parties. Been brilliant working with him at BT Sport Football so I know how keen he is to make it as a manager.”
As previously reported by the Evening Times, Ibrox sources were increasingly confident of finalising a deal 37-year-old Gerrard confirmed on Tuesday he had held “positive” initial talks with the Glasgow club and would revisit them on Thursday.
