THIS is the shocking moment security stewards seem to be forcibly closing the gates on desperate fans as they tried to enter Tynecastle Stadium.

The disturbing video, uploaded on Twitter by Carol O’Connor, was shot on Sunday at the Edinburgh park before the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Hearts and Celtic.

Carol, who was at the game, captioned it: “Folk getting crushed at hearts.”

In the clip, fans can be seen making their way into the stadium when stewards, security staff and police officers start closing the gates on supporters who were still making their way in

A woman behind the camera can be heard shouting: “You’re f****** having a laugh. You’re out of order, you’re out of order.”

A man caught up in the scuffle can be heard screaming to the staff: “You’ll cause a f****** riot.”

WARNING - Video contains strong language:

Fans can also be heard booing as dozens try to enter while the staff keep pushing the gate closed on them.

Users of the site vented their anger after seeing the jaw-dropping scenes.

One said: “It’s a f****** joke man, surely can’t shut gates on people man.”

Glasgow Times:

“I know it’s a joke 6 turnstiles to let 3,500 fans in is an absolute joke that stadium has gotten worse since they tried to make it better ... incredible,” wrote another.

“Unbelievable mate place is still a building site 6 days a week how they can let fans in is beyond me,” was another.

One user labelled the contents of the video as “a f****** disgrace,” adding: “Happening all to often at that s******** now. No doubt Anne Budge will have a huge list of excuses.”

A former steward wrote: “Causing needless congestion which only serves to antagonise an away support.”

“Football is the only attended event where the paying customers are treated like that. It’s ridiculous,” was another angry tweet, along with, “Its a shambolic stadium, dangerous,” and, “That could have been disastrous.”

Likening the incident to the Hillsborough disaster, one man added: “Once a s*******, always a s*******. Unbelievable crowd ‘management’. Have these clowns learned nothing from Hillsborough?”

“Amazing. You would think the authorities would learn from previous disasters and go out of their way to prevent similar situations instead of create them,” said another.

One fan attending the game uploaded a picture of hundreds of Celtic supporters making their way towards the stadium down a very narrow walkway.

He said: “20 minutes until kick off and police trying to herd us down this path to stadium. Horses at side and aggressive policing. Shambles. Jumped queue. Not taking wean through that.”

Eric Alexander, managing director events at G4S Secure Solutions (UK) Limited, said: “Our security stewards’ focus is to ensure the public is kept safe and to help facilitate an enjoyable and safe day for everyone attending football matches.

“We continue to work closely with stadium authorities, Police Scotland and the Football Club Safety Officer. We will always keep security arrangements for every event under review to ensure that they are appropriate and proportionate. In this instance, the decision to close the gate for public safety was made via Police Scotland and thereafter G4S facilitated the operational aspects of spectator safety.”

Police Scotland did not respond to requests for comment, while calls to Hearts FC and Celtic FC went unanswered.
