Television host Ewen Cameron has been pictured with a Rangers bag days after being forced to deny being a closet Rangers fan.

The die-hard Hearts supporter posted an emotional message online to assure the public of his commitment to the Jam Tarts following the uproar.

The dispute started after the presenter headed to Ibrox for the unveiling of Steven Gerrard, with fans claiming that he seemed suspiciously excited about the Liverpool legend’s arrival.

The accusations which included comments about 'his disguise slipping' were also prompted by a video of the STV broadcaster enjoying the celebrations with Light Blues fans.

Just days later, he was caught blue-handed with a Rangers megastore bag on his desk at work and holding a piece of paper headed with the Rangers fan group Club 1872 logo.

His colleague Paul Hughes posted a photo of the conspicuous moment on Twitter, and captioned it: “Passed @EwenDCameron desk today. Guess what was lying on it? he’s not helping himself. ”

Cameron previously posted on Twitter saying he was “p***** off”.

He wrote: “I’m a Hearts man. I grew up in Edinburgh. I went to Tynecastle High School. I’ve been a season ticket holder, on and off, over the years but due to work commitments I can’t go as often as I would like. I now go to the odd game when I can.”

“What p***** me off is the narrow-minded, blinkered, few who spout the same boring p*** about me. I’m a football fan who looks at the bigger picture and I love the banter with rival fans.”

Fans were quick to poke fun at the presenter, welcoming him to the Rangers family.

Gordon Goshy‏ wrote: "And there I was defending you the other day, knew you were one of us queue the “closet Rangers fan” comments love it mate."

Another added: "Ewen isnae daft enough to waste his money on that donation. You must have photoshopped over his season ticket renewal form."
