Figures from the world of Scottish arts and entertainment have expressed their concern over missing frontman Scott Hutchison.

The Frightened Rabbit singer disappeared after sharing a cryptic message online. 

Comedian Limmy and author Irvine Welsh took to Twitter to urge the popular musician to come home.

Hutchison, 36, was reported missing earlier today after being last seen leaving the Dakota hotel in South Queensferry.

His band mates have said they are worried about the frontman, adding that he "may be in a fragile state and may not be making the best decisions for himself". 

Scott last posted on Twitter on Tuesday night, saying: "I'm away now. Thanks."

Edith Bowman, wrote: "Please help folks. Share and keep an eye out please."

Responding to the tweet, author Chris Brookmyre said: "Nothing hurts forever. That goes for the people you think you've hurt as well as for yourself.

"Please find your way back. The people who love you will be waiting."

Glasgow writer Denise Mina, added: "Wait it out. It’ll pass.

"You’ll never find out what happened in the end if you go now."

Limmy posted on his social media: "Come on back, @owljohn, wherever you are."

Irvine Welsh added: "Please RT this. Scott is a good guy. This is very worrying."

Scott has spoken openly about his battles with mental health. 

In a recent interview, published just earlier this month, he discussed contemplating suicide.

Speaking to Noisey, he said: "On a day-to-day basis, I’m a solid six out of ten. I don’t know how often I can hope for much more than that.

"I’m drawn to negatives in life, and I dwell on them, and they consume me. I don’t think I’m unique in that sense. I’m all right with a six. If I get a couple of days a week at a seven, fuck, it’s great."

Frightened Rabbit have amassed a cult following across the world since their debut over ten years ago.

Their last performance in Glasgow saw them treat fans to an anniversary show of their most successful album Midnight Organ Fight.

They are due to host their first ever music festival - The First Incident - at SWG3 next month.

Scott was last seen wearing a dark baseball cap, a navy hooded jacket, grey or khaki trousers and white trainers.
