A LUMBERJACK sucker-punched his daughter's ex-boyfriend.

William Gordan, 43, spotted his victim in the crowd at last year's Scottish Cup Final before bursting the man's nose in a rage.

The complainer hit the ground and had to be taken to the first aid area for medical treatment.

The accused was arrested before kick-off; missing Celtic lift the cup after beating Aberdeen 2-1.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Gordan admitted assaulting the man at Hampden Park on May 27, 2017.

Defending, Greg Cunningham explained that the accused had been working before heading to the match. It wasn't a drunken assault as the accused had not taken alcohol. Instead, the complainer was said to be the ex-partner of Gordan's daughter and it was alleged that he had mistreated her.

When the men caught sight of each other, the victim began to make gestures to his friends "clearly not saying nice things about Mr Gordan". The accused lashed out in response.

Sheriff Allan Findlay fined Gordan, of McLaren Terrace in Callander, £750. He was also ordered to pay £250 compensation to the complainer.
