EAGLE-EYED Glasgow residents have the chance to win a luxury safari holiday this weekend.

Despite being a nation of self-confessed wildlife lovers, with 89 per cent of Brits saying they love the wildlife our glorious nation has to offer, 65 per cent of the population say they would like to see more in their local area, according to new research from the world’s third largest smartphone manufacturer, Huawei.

Of all the iconic British wildlife the UK has to offer, the raven is the least likely to be seen up close with only two per cent of people thinking they’re most likely to see one in their local area, when asked to pick from a list.

In celebration of the launch of the Huawei P20 Pro – the first smartphone to come equipped with three camera lenses and a 5x hybrid zoom – Huawei commissioned the research to discover what Brits are most keen to take photos of.

The results show that Brits are a nation of budding wildlife photographers with 79 per cent wanting to get closer to wildlife without disturbing it, and a whopping 62 per cent saying they would love to be able to capture more professional looking images, if they could get close enough.

With that in mind, Huawei has teamed up with Vodafone to offer the chance to win a luxury safari holiday for two – a wildlife photographer’s dream.

To kick off the initiative and bring wildlife closer to people in key cities around the UK, Huawei has supersized a number of elusive ravens, making them 5x bigger so they are all the more easy to get a perfect shot of.

Given that the raven is most commonly associated with the Tower of London, one of the ravens has been stationed on Potters Field, just a stone’s throw from the Tower, while a number of other giant birds will be touring the UK this weekend to make sure people in the cities where wildlife is hardest to see get the chance to catch a rare glimpse of these mysterious birds.

If people spot one in Glasgow this weekend, they can simply take a photo of it and take the picture into their local Vodafone store to be in with a chance of winning that dream wildlife photography holiday.

Justin Costello, head of marketing at Huawei UK, said: “With summer finally here, it’s great to know how passionate the British are about wildlife and photography. With the help of its three Leica lenses, 5x hybrid zoom and powered by AI, the Huawei P20 Pro smartphone can help you get the perfect shot."
