Bosses at Glasgow Airport have put a ban on popular drink Jägerbombs in a bid to crack down on drunken behaviour.

All pubs within the airport are now unable to sell the Red Bull and Jägermeister cocktail to any passengers.

Roudy travellers not only risk being refused access to their flight but can also cause disruptions for other holiday makers in the airport.

Police cheifs revealed that even passengers in their 70's have been disruptive, reports the Daily Record

Sergeant Clare Riddoch said: “In the last quarter, there were 58 disruptive passengers reported. It could be alcohol, or mental health issues or other things just escalated.

“There can be disruptive passengers on flights that aren’t even meant to come through here – as happened on a Canada to Amsterdam flight which diverted here – and we have to deal with that.

“It would be horrible to be a passenger on a flight with some person causing mayhem and this scheme is about stopping it getting anywhere near that stage.”

A scheme called Campus Watch is in effect as the airport and allows pub staff and workers to get on the radio to alert police and airport staff to “disruptive passengers”.

The initiative will also see an ad campaign spreading the message “Don’t ruin your holiday before it starts.”

Between January 1 and April 1, 2.6million passengers flew through Glasgow Airport, with 58 identified as disruptive.

Of that figure, 18 were had committed offences.

Glasgow Airport’s commercial director Francois Bourienne said: “We want our passengers to enjoy a safe and disruption-free experience.

“Our industry-leading Campus Watch initiative ensures we work closely on a daily basis with our airline partners, retailers, caterers and Police Scotland colleagues by taking a rigorous and proactive approach to address and most importantly pre-empt disruptive behaviour.
