CLYDEBANK residents are being urged to be extra vigilant after a series of housebreakings in the area at the weekend.

At around 5.10am on Sunday, officers were called to a house on Park Road after a householder had disturbed a man who had broken into his home.

The suspect made off from the house with a bag which was later recovered nearby.

Just a few hours later, at 10.30am, another report was made of an attempted housebreaking on the same road where the occupiers discovered someone had attempted to gain entry to a locked garage. The attempt was unsuccessful.

Detective Sergeant Neil Allison of Clydebank Police Office is now appealing for any information from the public.

He said: “Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the Park Road area and are gathering any CCTV footage in our efforts to trace who is responsible for these incidents.

“I would ask anyone who was in the Park Road area from late Saturday evening into Sunday morning who may have seen someone acting suspiciously, or anything out of the ordinary, to come forward to police.

“Officers will be carrying out extra patrols in the area to provide reassurance to the public and anyone with concerns should speak to officers.

“I would also ask householders to be extra vigilant, and ensure that doors, windows and any sheds or garages are kept secure.”

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Clydebank Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 1007 of May 13.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
