THE gun gang behind the murder of Maryhill man Euan Johnston used his mobile phone signal to track him, it has been claimed.

Glasgow Times:

The 26-year-old's movements were tracked using hi-tech devices before he was shot while he sat in his car at traffic lights on Shields Road near to its junction with Scotland Street in November, 2016.

Glasgow Times:

The claim, reported by the Scottish Sun, comes a week after David Scott, above, 33, was jailed for at least 22 years for the murder.

We previously revealed that the killer was filmed stalking the dad-of-two for an hour before shooting him.

An insider said: “The gang behind the hit always knew where EJ was because of his mobile. They could ‘ping’ its signal.

“He was driving around with a beacon in his pocket effectively saying, ‘Here I am — come and get me.’ All they had to do was wait for the right moment.

“The people behind this were super organised and had access to the sort of technology police would have to jump through hoops to use.”

Glasgow Times:

The assassins repeatedly drove past a kebab house where EJ was eating on the night he was killed before he was ambushed later in the city’s Kinning Park.

A source added: “There were suspicions about how the killers knew that he was there. It was an unplanned visit — but this was a pre-planned execution.”

Detective Superintendent Jim Kerr said: “Our probe revealed more than one person was at the shooting scene. We’d ask anyone who has info to contact police.”
