A SUPER-slimmer who ballooned to 19 stone after getting hooked on DOUGHNUTS has shed a third of his body weight – to transform himself into a hunky bodybuilder.

Kiran Bassan, 28, munched through up to 3,000 calories a day gorging on sugary snacks and junk food, washed down with full-fat coke.

The physiotherapist was so big he was unable to look at himself in the mirror but decided to take drastic action after he feared women would find him a turn off.

Kiran, of Tipton, West Mids., got in touch with a bodybuilding coach on Instagram, who set him a gruelling diet and exercise plan.

In two years he lost over six stone (38kg) to reach competition weight, and now weighs a trim 14st 2lbs (90kg) – as well as a staggering 40 per cent of his body fat.

In April, Kiran, a physiotherapist at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, competed in his first bodybuilding competition – and came third.

He said: “It started three years ago, when I left uni - it was more eating anything and everything, what I wanted. Crisps, cakes, chocolate, that kind of thing.

“I wouldn’t just eat one doughnut, I’d wolf down a six pack. I was hooked on them.

“When I was at uni, I was eating at any hour of the day, a packet of biscuits, whatever else.

“I came home, had mum’s food, which is good food, but I was eating on top of that.

“I’d qualified as a physio and I started working in 2014 and that’s when I started deciding I wanted to change.

“I didn’t like what was staring back at me when I looked in the mirror.

“I’d avoid looking at myself.

“I had a lack of self-confidence and would avoid talking to the opposite sex.

“I also felt tired all the time.

“At my heaviest I was 19 stone.

“There wasn’t any major issues, it was more my self confidence in wanting to look better, wanting a change, not wanting to be unhealthy, wanting to go for a run and not be out of breath.

“Being a healthcare professional as well, I had to identify what I’m doing for work and preaching, I almost need to practice.

“I found a bodybuilding coach called Scott Walay on Instagram in September 2016 and messaged him for help.

"At that point I just wanted to lose weight.

“But he said he could help me sort out my diet and exercise.

“As I started to see the changes over the first 12 months, I thought, ‘this is crazy’.

“The next 12 months is when I started getting proper serious.

“That’s when I honed in.

“In the first year I’d have gone from 120kg to around 100kg - in the second year it was around 90kg.

“When I got to stage weight I was 82kg, since then I’ve been relaxing and gone up to 90kg but a healthy 90kg, not what I was then, it’s muscle mass now.”

In April Kiran came third in Saxon Classic Bodybuilding Competition, at the Garrick Theatre in Lichfield, Staffs.

He added: “It was all worth it especially when I came third in the contest.

"It was the most incredible feeling when I was on stage.

"I had the biggest smile on my face and I was just concentrating on impressing the judges.

"I could hear everyone just screaming my name – it was mad.

"I want to keep competing and see how far I can take it.

"People I work with have seen the transformation, they have commended me on how well I’ve done."
