A MAN has been stabbed in the early hours of the morning in Maryhill.

Detectives are now investigating the serious assault on the 41-year-old which happened on Sunday at around 2am.

The man was found lying seriously injured in Cumlodden Drive. Police said he had been assaulted within a flat and common close, and then made his way out onto the roadway.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was treated for a stab wound to his body and a facial laceration. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

Detective Constable Maxine Shields, of Maryhill Police Office, is appealing for witnesses.

She said: “I would urge anyone who was in the Cumlodden Drive area of Maryhill around 2am on Sunday morning, who witnessed anything suspicious, or who has information that may assist our investigation to come forward.
