COPS have launched a probe after dozens of sheep vanished from a farm.
The force said that 44 sheep were found to be missing from Garrelwood Farm, Kirkmuirhill on May 15.
Officers, however, said they are unsure if the sheep are missing or have been stolen due to the large area they were kept in.
The field boundaries the M74 to the South, Auchenheath Road to the West, the River Nethan to the North and and area known as the Kerse to the East.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We are asking the public and farmers to be vigilant for their whereabouts, and report any found sheep in this area to Police on 101. It is possible that they have wandered and joined another flock.
"If they have been stolen it would have required time and job knowledge. Have you seen any activity in this area?"
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number PS-20180515-1311
