CARDWELL Garden Centre will be turning yellow this weekend in a bid to raise money for Ardgowan Hospice.

The garden centre, near Gourock, is staging a fun-filled charity BBQ party on Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 4pm.

Staff and visitors are being encouraged to wear something yellow in support of the hospice’s Go Yellow for Ardgowan fundraising campaign.

Special guests at the event will be two of the most famous yellow-coloured movie characters, Minions Stuart and Dave.

There will also be fun games with prizes for kids and the grown-ups – hoopla, hook a duck and feed the clown – along with face painting, a bouncy castle and a Minion treasure hunt. And of course, there will be plenty tasty food being cooked on the open-air barbecue set up in the garden centre.

Cardwell staff – retail general manager, Paul Carmichael, Laura McDonald and Kevin Farr, whose grandfather, Con Farr was cared for by staff at Ardgowan Hospice – got some practice in with some of the fun games that will be played at this weekend’s event.

Paul said: “We’re looking to have a very colourful weekend and raise lots of money for a very good cause.

“But not only that, everyone will have a great time and there’s lots of fun activities on the go, especially for youngsters.”
