GLASGOW project The Bridges Partnership, run by children’s charity Aberlour, has received £50,790 from the STV Children’s Appeal.

STV’s Laura Boyd visited the project to present the cheque and meet with some of its service users and staff, joined by representatives from solicitors Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie, a supporter of the appeal.

Laura said: “I had a great morning visiting The Bridges Partnership and learning about the incredibly important work they do with families and children in the North of Glasgow – very close to where I grew up. Hearing first-hand from one of the mothers about the support she has received from the charity reinforced the importance of the appeal to me and how the money raised can really help change the lives of children in Scotland for the better.”

The Bridges Partnership helps women in Glasgow escape domestic abuse, giving women and children a fresh start and helping them to recover from a traumatic past.

The project works in partnership with Shelter and Glasgow Housing Association to give families all they need to move on, while providing emotional, practical and therapeutic support throughout.

Gemma Barnett, project performance manager of The Bridges Partnership, added: ‘The generous support of STV Children’s Appeal will enable us to be there for women and children who have experienced domestic abuse and who may have nowhere else to turn. We will provide therapeutic and practical support whilst finding them a safe place to live.

"On their behalf, thank you to everyone who has raised money for STV Children’s Appeal.”
