INTERNET sensation Denise Ferrie is facing jail after repeatedly punching her own mum in the face - the woman whose funeral she sang at.

As first reported by the Evening Times back in March, 33-year-old Ferrie quickly shot to fame after paying a unique tribute to her mum at her graveside.

A video saw the Coatbridge woman bellowing out Millie Small’s 1965 hit ‘My Boy Lollipop’ in a distinctively Scottish style.

In the clip - viewed by millions - she can be heard saying: “That was her song wae ma da.”

Now, though, it seems Ferrie repeatedly assaulted the woman whom she honoured at Coltswood Cemetery in Coatbridge.

Ferrie took to the dock at Airdrie Sheriff Court last week where she was expected to be sentenced after pleading guilty to the shocking attack on her now late mum, Elizabeth McGeough, reports the Daily Record.

She was also set to be punished for missing two court appearances.

Proceedings have been rescheduled for June 13.
