A RANGERS-supporting couple who both have terminal illnesses have been married in a “fairytale” wedding at Ibrox Stadium.

Jeannie Millan and William Brand were swamped with the cost of shipping ground-breaking new medicine from America for William’s Motor Neurone Disease.

Despite William, 49, having popped the question three times, the couple - from Haldane in West Dunbartonshire - could not justify the cost of a wedding with the medical bills looming.

Jeannie, 39, also suffers from heart failure as a result of having chemotherapy for leukaemia and two of the couple’s three children also have a disability.

The Rangers Charity Foundation then stepped in to help the couple tie the knot after learning of their tragic circumstances.

Jeannie spoke to the charity to ask for a donation to help pay for William’s medication and was given a signed ball which was raffled off and raised £400.

But, as the Foundation found out more about the couple’s story, the team decided to help fulfill their wish to be married at Ibrox.

The Foundation paid for the intimate ceremony, buffet meal and evening reception for 50 guests, with a photography company donating their services free of charge.

The wedding was paid for from the Foundation’s Dream Fund, which was set up at the start of this season to create special experiences for children and adults whose lives have been impacted through illness, injury, disability or a difficult or traumatic experience.

Describing the day as “fantastic” and “more than a dream come true,” Jeannie said: “We couldn’t have asked for it to be any better.

“My heart failure means I can’t get stressed and a wedding is a stressful thing but the Foundation took all the pressure off.

“We were able to have a first dance which was great. The team’s made a dying man’s wish come true. It’s given him a new lease of life and another reason to fight harder.

“We only asked for a bit of help because we’ve been through such hardship.”
