A MAN was seriously assaulted after he got into an altercation with two men in Glasgow city centre.

The 23-year-old was attacked on Hope Street in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Police were called to the scene at 2.55am and they said the man was involved in an altercation with two men in Gordon Street at around 12.45am.

The man was followed by the two men to Hope Street where he is knocked to the ground and seriously assaulted.

The victim was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he received treatment for head and facial injuries.

The first suspect is white, with a slim build and short dark hair. He was wearing a dark hooded anorak, dark trousers and dark trainers.

The second suspect is white, with a heavy build. He was wearing a dark jacket, with the hood up, dark jogging trousers and light coloured trainers.

Officers are gathering CCTV footage from around this area for any additional detail which could assist in their enquiries.

Detective Constable Kieron Frost said: “A young man has been assaulted and it’s imperative we trace the two men responsible.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have been in Gordon Street or Hope Street around the time of the incident to contact us with any information.

"Perhaps you witnessed the initial altercation, or did you see the suspects as they ran off from Hope Street.

"Any small piece of information could help us piece together what has happened and why.”
