CELTIC WAG Helen Flanagan has hit out at toy manufacturers over the lack of ethnic dolls available for parents to buy.

The Coronation Street star, who is expected a baby girl next month, took to social media to express her frustration as a parent.

She shares a daughter, Matilda, 2, with Celtic star Scott Sinclair.

Was in town yesterday just getting my final bits for my hospital bag and wanted to get Matilda a little toy off her baby sister so thought I’d get her a barbie to pop in my bag. Every time I’ve gone shopping though to buy my little girl a barbie it’s always a struggle to find a barbie with darker hair and darker skin tones in the shops. My little girl is really girly and wants the barbies that look really fancy in big pink ball gowns and I have never seen on the shelves any other barbies of any other race than blonde hair and blue eyed barbies. I know that’s what barbie is originally but it’s 2018 and I think there should be way more different ethnicity barbies on the shelves in the big fancy pink ball gowns. There is the fashionista range and the dreamtopia range but my little girl likes the really girly barbies and I just think there should be way more choice with barbies of different ethnicities. It might sound like I’m maybe thinking to much about it but as a mum I feel like I’m responsible for her outlook when she’s so young. I don’t want to buy her a doll that looks nothing like her and for her to thing it’s the bees knees and not appreciate how beautiful she is. Do other mums of daughters feel the same wish there was more choice of different ethnicities of barbies on the shelves? X
