Two high-value bottles of whisky have been stolen from a shop in Moray.

They were taken from Whisky Castle in Tomintoul between 4pm and 5pm on Tuesday.

The Johnnie Walker Blue Label King George V and Imperial 1997 are valued at £540 and £250 respectively.

Shop owner Sam Ashforth said: "We've never had anything like this before, we will be more on guard but it won't stop us offering customers a personal experience - we pride ourselves on that.

"There were three of them and they just all walked their way around the shop and waited until we were distracted."

Police Scotland is looking to speak with a man who officers believe could help with their investigation.

He has been described as tall and slim, with a brown beard and brown hair with blond highlights on top, which was worn up in a bun.

He was wearing a navy blue 'PORC' branded jacket which had a distinctive white logo on the back of it of a pig's head silhouette and crossed bones.

It is believed he was in the company of a number of other men and may be travelling around the north of Scotland area.

Investigating officer Pc Robert Mackay said: "This would be a highly unusual incident for the area and I am appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Main Street to consider whether they saw anything unusual late on Tuesday afternoon."

He urged anyone anyone with information about the incident or the man described to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 3039 of May 22.
