Plans to build a new two-storey house in Firhill were granted this week.

The home, which will include a garage and a boundary wall, is to replace an existing outbuilding in Wilton Crecent Lane.

It comes despite concerns being raised over the potential for sunlight to be blocked from neighbouring houses.

In his planning statement, Alex Taylor, from Entasis Architects, said: “The new house is sufficiently distant from adjacent properties and its windows arranged such that it will not adversely affect the amenity of the adjacent properties.”

The building will be made of red brick, as well as slate and zinc cladding, with a surrounding red brick wall and grey or green fencing.

Planning committee member Martin Bartos said: “I’m more thoughtful about what the right design is in the conservation. Given you can never find a perfect match I think it probably is the right design that you’d expect in this context at this time.”
