Sam Heughan has expressed his support and gratitude for the great work that is carried out at a Glasgow hospice as he made a visit to thank the "exceptional" staff.

The Outlander actor, visited Marie Curie Hospice in Glasgow yesterday, where he met two of the staff members who discussed the positivity and joy that the place brings to both patients and their families.

The 38-year-old also thanked all those who take part in fundraising alongside him, he said: "I just wanted to say thank you.

"You know that we are now supporting several charities and one of them is Marie Curie.

"We wanted to show you a bit more about the work that they do and introduce you to a few of the people here at the Glasgow hospice."

Sam was impressed by the facilities at the Glasgow building which features a piano and a "nice space" for patients to spend their final days.

Sam has been a part of building the My Peak Challenge fundraiser, a global movement aimed at educating and inspiring members to live healthier happier lives whilst raising funds to change other lives.

The challenge sees a team of 'Peakers' working towards a goal they have set themselves over a 12-month period.

Money raised from the challenge goes towards several charities including pioneering blood cancer research charity, Bloodwise, which the actor is the president of.

Now Marie Curie UK will also benefit from money raised by the Scots hunk and his team.

And Sam has hinted that the relationship with the hospice will continue with "more exciting news to come".
