Electro legends Orbital are the first act to be revealed as part of Festival 2018’s programme at George Square.

The live performance to around 3,000 people will be one of many events to take place as part of the festival which puts Glasgow and Scotland's renowned arts sector and creativity in the spotlight during the European Championships.

Orbital is the first music act to be announced for the George Square event, designed create a carnival atmosphere during the historic sporting event between August 2 and 12.

Merchant City and Glasgow Green will also be hosting activities and performances nearby.

Fans will have the opportunity to buy tickets, priced £25 and £12.50, from Wednesday 30 May through glasgow2018.com.

Orbital’s Paul Hartnoll said: “Can’t wait to be going back to Scotland for our first gig in over 5 years. We have had some of our best ever gigs in Glasgow and really looking forward to getting back there.”

The Festival 2018 cultural programme will put Glasgow and Scotland’s renowned arts sector and creativity in the spotlight, offering the best in music, visual art, street art, dance, theatre, digital art and comedy – with free events for all ages.

"It’s fantastic to be able to announce their live act, right in the heart of Glasgow, on the last Friday night of the Championships.
