PIGEON misery should soon be over for residents fed up with their feathered neighbours.

In April the Evening Times told how Dumbreck Court locals were being plagued by pigeons that had set up home in their blocks.

Residents told us of the filth left on balconies and window ledges by the flock.

And they pleaded with landlords GHA to do something about the issue.

Now, housing bosses say the saga is nearly at an end as they have sourced special netting to keep the birds away.

Nets had been used previously but had to be removed when pigeons became caught in them and were injured.

Residents wrote again to the Evening Times. Their letter said: "After you contacted GHA assurances were made in dealing with the problem.

"We are still waiting on anything being done. We feel our protests are just getting dismissed again."

But a GHA spokeswoman insisted this was not the case and said the problem is being solved.

She said: “This is a substantial piece of work and we have been doing all we can to ensure we get an effective solution for our customers as quickly as possible.

“We had to make sure we found the right kind of netting and tested it thoroughly. Putting the nets in place requires specialist equipment which has limited availability, but we did all we can to get it as quickly as possible.

“We are really happy that work will start on June 4.

“We would like to thank residents at Dumbreck Court for their patience.”
