A MAJOR slip road onto the Erskine Bridge will be closed overnight for gas engineering works.

Scotland TranServ announced SGN will close the Crianlarich slip road onto the A898 between 8pm and 6am tomorrow.

Drivers have been urged to check with Traffic Scotland for updates to avoid delays.

The work, which began on March 5, is to replace two 1.5km long, 300mm in diameter pipelines which are suspended within the bridge, crossing the River Clyde.

A new 450mm in diameter and 1.9km long line will take its place.

Works should be completed by December this year.
