ScotRail have come under fire after Ed Sheeran fans and commuters were caught up in chaos at Glasgow Central ahead of the first night of the singer's sold-out show.

Queueing systems were put in place for those heading to the gig, however people trying to get home from work hit out at the rail network after the crowds prevented them from catching their train home.

On top of the mass of crowds, travellers were also dissapointed at the long queues for tickets, lack of extra carriages and lack of extended services for those heading to the concert.

One gig-goer said: "Your idea of 3 carriages to Mount Florida for the Ed Sheeran gig last night was nothing short of disgraceful. Customer safety and service right out the window. Staff asking people to "squeeze down further" shocking treatment!!!"

Another added: "Possibly the biggest gig of the year. Ed Sheeran/Hampden Park. The transport network has know for a year. So...why no additional trains or even extra carriages put on?"

Ahead of tonight's gig, ScotRail have assured travellers that there will be extra carriages to and from Mount Florida and advised heading to the station as quickly as possible after the gig as trains will be exceptionally busy.
