PUPILS at Drumchapel High School quite literally danced the night away as they celebrated their prom.

The event, held at Boclair House Hotel, saw sixth years come together to mark the end of their time together at the Kinfauns Drive school.

The event, which had been in planning for the whole academic year, went smoothly and head teacher Joanne Sturgeon praised the pupils and staff responsible for putting things together.

She said: “The kids had an absolutely fantastic night. Everybody was all very well turned out. They had a lovely meal which was followed by lots of dancing.

“There were pupils and teachers awards, which were all done in good spirit, and it was a lovely event.”

Some of the awards speculated on who was likely to be most successful and joked about who was the best teacher.

Ms Sturgeon added: “There was certainly a real sense of community amongst the pupils. This was a time they really enjoyed with each other.

“It’s been in the planning for the whole academic year. There’s a prom committee which was led by Natalie Johnston, one of our PE teachers. The pupils were very much involved in the organising. They developed their communication skills, organisation, timekeeping and budgeting. It went off without any hitches and it was testament to the team and staff.”

Pupils had even managed to get their headteacher up dancing on the night, and Ms Sturgeon joked: “They had a great time and dance from the beginning to the end. I was up on the dancefloor but maybe not dancing quite as elegantly as the pupils.”
