Motorists in Hyndland face having their cars towed if they are found to be parked illegally as of next week.

Officers have been patrolling several streets in the area in an effort to clamp down on the dangerous and obstructive parking habits.

Warning notices have been left on a number of cars advising them not to park in areas where they will cause an obstruction to other motorists and pedestrians.

The warning period will end on Monday June 18, when enforcement will begin to anyone found to be breaching the laws.

If officers are unable to contact the car owner to request them to move it to a more suitable parking area, the vehicle will be removed.

The owner will be charged for the car to be towed and have been warned to expect to be charged.

A multi-agency team made up of Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue and the Scottish Ambulance Service, launched the strict measures to reduce traffic congestions and to improve road safety and accessibility.

The locations affected are Crown Road South at Crown Terrace; Crown Road South at Hyndland Street; Sydenham Lane at Crown Gardens; Crown Gardens at Crown Road North; Crown Road North at Prince’s Place; Prince’s Place at Prince’s Terrace; Prince’s Place at Prince Albert Road and Prince Albert Road at Sydenham Road.

The warning comes after controversial parking controls were introduced in a further three West End locations.

Streets in Hyndland, Hughenden and Dowanhill West are subject to strict parking conditions.

The changes have been designed to stop commuters parking in resident’s spaces and bring an end to obstructive parking practices.

Glasgow City Council said they identified Hyndland, Hughenden and an unrestricted area of Dowanhill as being negatively affected by parking pressures.
