PLANS for a new petrol station and drive-thru restaurant on the site of a former church in Nitshill are to be discussed by Glasgow City Council this week.
Planning officers have recommended that councillors vote in favour of the plans when they are discussed at the next meeting of the Planning Committee on Tuesday.
EG Group submitted the application to deliver the new roadside services, on the site of the former St Louise Church on Nitshill Road, in 2017. The proposals would create 42 jobs and involve the development of a brownfield site adjacent to junction three of the M777, which is currently vacant.
Tom Jeremiah, Group Planning Director at EG Group, said: “Since the application was submitted we have made some changes, including adjusting the layout, removing a proposed car wash and incorporating an extra electric charging point – and we’re glad that Glasgow City Council can see the benefits the proposed development will bring.”
He added: “With the former St Louise Church now demolished, it makes sense to put the site to productive use.
“If, as expected, planning permission is granted by the Planning Committee we expect to be able to start work as soon as possible, delivering jobs and investment in this part of Glasgow.”
