STUNNING new mum Libby Smith has spoken of her heartbreak over facing Father's Day without her son's dad - ex-Celtic footballer Logan Bailly.

The daughter of Rangers legend Libby delivered son Edson Thunder earlier this month - and admitted that his goalkeeper father has not made attempts to see the child.

Glasgow Times:

The pair got together last year and announced the birth of their first child at New Year.

Logan, 32, joined Royal Excel Mouscron from Celtic last summer and the couple moved to Belgium.

The 6ft 3 inches keeper is already father to daughter Destiny, 12, and Prince, 7.

Today is a difficult day for me. Celebrating my own Dad and everything he is in my life has made me think about my son and everything I want for him. • I have been blessed with the most precious gift I could ever have asked for and my focus will forever be Edson and being the best mummy I can be. Being pregnant was the most beautiful and hardest experience for me. • In January I had no option but to come back to Glasgow from Belgium due to pregnancy related issues. Since then, the man I love and my son’s father, has never been to visit me. I have attended every scan and hospital appointment since then without him and I was of course without him for the birth of our son. I was always promised that he would be here with me when our son was born. Perhaps I was wrong to expect that but this was a journey we undertook together and I feel he has abandoned us now. • Adjusting to life as a new mum and recovering from an emergency caesarean has been hard enough but carrying this burden around with me has become too much. I am absolutely heartbroken for my baby, knowing how amazing and precious he is, that his own father has not made him a priority in his life and hasn’t even sent so much as a card. I’ve begged and begged for support – not for me but for our son. • Despite this painful disappointment, becoming a mother is already the greatest thing to ever happen to me and I will continue to be the strong positive person that I am for Edson’s sake. Unfortunately I know that I am not the only mother who has had to go through these issues and I can only salute others who have endured this during what is meant to be one of the most special times in your life. • Edson’s dad will always be welcome to visit his son and more importantly to be a father to him. To those who have already shown me love and support, I am so grateful. #happyfathersday #EdsonThunder #12daysold #newborn
