TWO men were assaulted, one seriously, after a massive fight outside a popular Partick pub.

Police and ambulances rushed to the Quarter Gill on Dumbarton Road after the alarm was raised late on Saturday night.

A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Evening Times the police and ambulance turnout was “high” amid a sense of panic just before midnight.

The resident said: “I saw a young man lying in middle of road on the nearby Hayburn Street. It looked like he had been glassed. He had blood all over his face and was crying. He had a mate with him. I gave him some handkerchiefs.

“An ambulance and some police turned up around five minutes later.

“Partick is definitely much more lively and troublesome.

“There was a Dr Hook concert on at the Kelvingrove Bandstand which is possibly why there were higher numbers of people in the area.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said the force was seeking witnesses to come forward with any information.

She added: “Police were called at around 11.40pm on Saturday, June 16 to a report of a disturbance outside a pub on Dumbarton Road.

“A 39-year-old man was seriously assaulted and taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, and another 36 year-old man was assaulted during the incident.

“Police enquiries are continuing and anyone with information that may be able to assist the ongoing investigation should contact Drumchapel CID through 101 quoting reference number 4816 of June 16.”
